Harold Hunter Weekend XV

June 16,2022

For the second year in a row DC Shoes partnered with The Harold Hunter Foundation as the presenting sponsor for Harold Hunter Weekend XV

Since its inception 15 years ago, Harold Hunter Weekend is one of NYC’s largest and most highly anticipated skateboarding events. This year, hundreds of skateboarders from all over NYC and the world gathered to celebrate the life, spirit, and legacy of Harold Hunter. As always, events throughout the week were packed with friends, family, and fans of both Harold and NYC skate culture.

This year DC Shoes also had a proper crew of athletes in the city to help celebrate including - John Gardner, Susie Heath, Josh Wilson, Shaun Paul, John Shanahan, Kevin Bilyeu, Jacob Krugmire, IIkka Backstrom and Brooklinn Khoury.

Saturday kicked off with The Boardr Open presented by DC Shoes at LES Skatepark featuring the HHF Wildcard Contest. It was an all ages contest with over 150 entries and packed with amazing skating - the kids were ripping despite the 90 degree summer heat. When it was all said and done - Ricci Tres took home the win on the women's side and Gabe Vigliotti aka Minnow won the men's division. The HHF Wildcard victory went to Juri Iikura for women and Jiro Platt for men.

On Saturday night DC Shoes hosted a private party at The Flower Shop in the Lower East Side. Over 200 skateboarders and industry veterans alike gathered to watch a special screening of: HAROLD a video by R.B. Umali with original music by Ocularge (and Harold Hunter) featuring over 18 minutes of rarely seen Harold footage. The video was so well received that DC will be working with R.B. to release the project digitally in the coming weeks...stay tuned!

The main event - Harold Hunter Day XV - went down on Sunday at LES Coleman Skatepark. With hundreds of people in attendance, it was an incredible way to celebrate the late, great Harold Hunter. The massive crowd enjoyed live DJ sets from Brujas, tons of giveaways, and plenty of insane skateboarding thanks to 5 separate best trick contests with cash prizes. The final best trick jam featured a secret obstacle built by the BOARDR crew. The “DC Shoes Up Ledge” was definitely a crowd favorite and will be left at LES park as a donation for the locals to enjoy.

Special shout outs to HHF, The Boardr, R.B. Umali and The Flower Shop for their flawless support on the weekends programming and huge thanks to all those who came through and made this year's HH Day one of the best yet!
